YASSS!!! My package arrived just a couple minutes ago! Much excite! Guess what I got! :D

LOOK AT THIS BOX OF COCAINE!!

Kinja'd!!!

I actually got some radiator fans for my 944! Now, you may/or may not be wondering:

“K-Roll, dafuq? You already have perfectly working fans ya?”

Well yes, yes I do. But these fans have SIX BLADES!

Kinja'd!!!

These fans are from a late model 944(‘85.5-91). The early cars came with a noisy and somewhat inefficient three blade fan; and after successfully doing a coolant flush that fixed my overheating issues this weekend, this should prove to be an extended improvement to my cooling system!

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll be putting this one on either later today or tomorrow.

Should have ordered that Tesla quantum cooler. Zaps the engine with a beam that just teleports all the excess heat into space.

I actually wanted a liquid nitrogen injection coolant system, but alas, they don’t make any for the right price.

Got it in this afternoon, a very simple job for the most part. Jack up the front end, and the fan assembly is held in by 6 10mm bolts. Remove them from bottom to top, and cut off the zipties that hold the electrical connectors in place to the fan. Wriggle the assembly out from the bottom, and repeat the same but backwards with the new assembly. I haven’t gotten new zipties for the connectors yet, but I went on a test run this afternoon: much quieter and efficient than the original. You can find these for around $50, that’s how much I paid for mine. There is one minor issue that I’ll mention when I write up my post on it for tomorrow.

Clearly it’s balanced because it doesn’t shake itself to pieces, but as to why it’s like that, I have no fucking clue.

What does the engine bay look like where the fan goes?

It’s mounted directly on the front of the engine. I’m thinking that there’s maybe some sort of cooling benefit to the buffeting or “chop” that the unevenly spaced blades would cause.
